Couture wedding dressings for the 2011 season are proving to be quite diverse. This season, a wedding gown may be based upon fashion trends from almost any decade and still be considered fashionable. The first major trend that is being seen this season is that of the sexy streamlined silhouette, as is seen in the mermaid style of gown. Figure hugging gowns are predicted to be a major trend for the next few seasons. If you have a fantastic figure, now is the time to show it off!

Another popular colour was pink; this was considered very appropriate for a May wedding. Pink flatters most complexions and is associated with the bride's girlhood, but a few superstitions said it to be unlucky, as the quote state "Marry in pink and your fortunes will sink"! Mrs Joseph Nollekens was very much considered fashionable in 1772 in her saque gown made from brocaded white silk embellished with delicate crimson flowers. She also wore shoes made from the similar material, which had heels of three and a half inches (approx. 8cm).

European brides favor blue or the ever dramatic scarlet red colored wedding dresses. A popular color for second time and more sophisticated brides is platinum silver or antique gold colored wedding dresses. Since color is such a personal choice, many retailers steer clear of stocking colored wedding dresses as it is increasingly difficult to estimate demand. Demand for colored wedding gowns also varies per geographic location.

If you are shopping for cheap wedding dresses, you definitely should never come to a haute couture. Forget about having a customized gown because that costs so much. You do not have to be sad, however, because there are various styles and designs that you can choose from in stores that sell ready-made bridal gowns. If you are lucky enough, you might even land on the very same wedding gown design you have in mind. While you are at it, scout for bridesmaids dresses cheap. It would be nice to find a cheap bridal gown for yourself.

A couture dress is the alternative to off-the-rack dresses. With couture dresses, a master seamstress will make a pattern for your dress out of muslin. It is at this stage that you can begin to modify the dress to your tastes, your size and your needs. You can raise the neckline, lengthen or shorten the train and even add or take away sleeves. This muslin pattern will be sewn together and fitted to your exact dimensions.

Most shoppers have come to expect these variations in size when it comes to casual clothes. But when it's your wedding dress - and you know all eyes will be on you, the bride - close isn't good enough. You want your wedding dress to fit like a glove so you can relax and enjoy the day.

Unfortunately some bridal stores attempt to pass this off as "made to measure". Do not confuse "made to order" with "made to measure" and don't forget to ask if the price quoted includes alterations? As these usually cost extra and can add several hundred pounds to the price of the dress, depending on what needs doing.
